    Magellan Maestro 2008/2009 Map Update

20008/2009 Map Upgrade for Magellan Maestro Products
    Customer Review: Maestro Map Update
Received and installed on 4250 without any problem. However, after purchasing this product in May,09, I found out that Magellan releases the new 2009 Spring Map. Just wondering how old is the map I just bought.
    Customer Review: Update
This was an update program for my wife’s Magellan GPS unit. After a little head scratching I figured out how to install it and it works quiet well. This gives her at least another year of using a unit that she would not trade for my Tom-Tom (my personal preference) or the Cobera GPS that I got on Woot.

Mio MOOV 310 4.3-Inch Touchscreen GPS Unit with Traffic and Text-to-Speech

Maximize your driving experience with easy-to-follow voice-guided directions and access to over 3.5 million points of interest with the svelte, stylish Mio Moov 310, which features an extra-large widescreen 4.3-inch LCD for clearer text and more map on the screen. It comes with a 12-month Traffic Messaging Channel subscription, which helps you to avoid unexpected accidents, road blocks and traffic jams with its real-time traffic alerts. With pre-loaded maps of all 50 U.S. States and Puerto Rico, the Mio Moov 310 is ready to operate in minutes with no computer set-up required. Other features include 1 GB of internal memory, an SD/MMC memory card slot, and up to 2.5 hours of battery life.

Never miss a turn with 3D indicators and clear voice turn-by-turn guidance.

The Mio Moov 310 comes with a one-year paid Traffic Messaging Channel (TMC) subscription. Powered by ClearChannel’s network of affiliates, TMC provides real-time updates on accidents, detours and construction that could delay or prevent drivers from reaching their destination. With TMC real-time alerts, you’ll be warned early of trouble spots up ahead and get suggestions for routes around the obstruction.

The Mio Moov 310 sports a 4.3-inch, square-shaped display (480 x 272-pixel resolution) with a bright, anti-glare screen for easy viewing in any environment. All the controls, buttons and menus accessed via the touchscreen have been optimized for ease of use and fast access to the features you use the most. If you know the address of your destination, you can use the software’s address-entry wizard and its on-screen keyboard. You can also use the Multi-stop Trip Planner function if you’re running several errands. The Moov 310 allows you to save up to 200 destinations in a favorites list for easy access to your most visited addresses and points of interest.

While most GPS devices will alert you that you are “about to turn left in 100 yards,” the Moov 310 goes a step further and includes an advanced Text-to-Speech feature that reads the actual street name as your next turn approaches–enabling you to spend more time watching the road and less concentration on the GPS screen.

Mio Moov devices feature the new SiRFInstantFixII GPS receiver, which deliver faster GPS signal locks so you can begin navigating as soon as you’re ready to drive. The SiRFInstantFixII chip can find and lock a GPS signal in as few as five seconds during typical device start-ups, almost half a minute faster than other GPS devices. For users in cities where tall buildings can impede GPS signals–creating “urban canyons”–a fast signal requisition can be the difference between missing a turn and arriving on-time.

    Other features include:

    • With over 3.5 million points of interest, it’s easy to find restaurants, gas stations, emergency assistance, hotels and more.
    • United States street-level maps are pre-loaded on the 1 GB internal memory
    • SD/MMC memory card slot for additional map loading
    • USB port for connection to your PC
    • Internal speaker
    • Dimensions: 5.1 x 3.3 x 0.7 inches (WxHxD)
    • Weight: 6.1 ounces

    The Home screen.

    Clear mapping directions.

Customer Review: Almost all you need in a GPS
The only feature on this GPS that is a hassle is the extra cord that is used to grab the signal for the traffic report. However, this is an easy to use flawless GPS.
Customer Review: Not in any terms as good as GARMIN
I owned a Garmin NuVi 360. But unfortunately I broke it due to my carelessness. I wanted to buy a good GPS to replace the GARMIN. I read the reviews about the Mio Moov 310 and since most of them were positive I bought it. BAD MOVE!! I didn’t like the interface at all. Maybe I am used to the simplicity of GARMIN interface. Unlike Garmin it doesnot let me “name/label” my stored locations. The intuitive T9 feature is irritating. I am not new to technology and devices. But a bad interface is what I dislike. And the worse part was that the device never detected GPS signal. The MIO support asked me to send the unit for repair and told me it would take 10 working days. I opted to return the Mio Moov 310 back to Amazon and ordered a New GARMIN NuVi 360 again. Nothing beats GARMIN!

Contains navigational features such as turn restrictions and speed categories. Points of interest such as: food and drink, lodging, border crossings, petrol stations, hospitals and more. Will automatically create point to point routes on your NT compatible Garmin GPS.
    Customer Review: No Information
I just received this product and it took 3 hours to get it to work on a 60csx. The manual consists of 1 3″x 3″ page in English of which 1/3 is a warning and 1/3 is a legal disclaimer. I’m still in the States but from what I can see the maps are very good, with plenty of useful POI’s. This chip did not work with Garmin Mapsource or Garmin Map installer. Insert the chip into the unit and figure it out from there. Meaning as far as I can tell, no PC tie in. In my opinion Garmin makes the best mapping product on the market. Which is a shame because they are consistently overpriced with minimal support. It takes hours on line to see how useful their products can be. Which can be a little scary when you can’t get on line.
Customer Review: No way to get around without it!
Great item! I don’t know how I would have gotten though Northern Italy without it! I stayed at some smaller hotels on little streets and it was no problem. The only reason I did not give it a five star is because it included no written instructions.

  • Garmin nüvi 350 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator (Factory Refurbished)

This is a refurbished GPS. Refurbished generally means that the unit has been returned to the manufacturer, who brings the navigator back to like new conditions. Some GPS may contain cosmetic blemishes.

What if one device could help you navigate anywhere in the U.S. andCanada, while offering travel tips, storing your favorite tunes and photos, providing translation assistance, and more? That device is here, and it’s not much bigger than a deck of cards. The Garmin nüvi 350 is set to revolutionize what we expect from a GPS navigation device, or from any device for that matter.

Which nüvi is Best for You?: Click here to see a quick, simple comparison of features for all Garmin nuvi GPS navigators

The nüvi 350 is a portable GPS navigator, traveler’s reference, and digital entertainment system, all in one. View product demo (requires Flash).

A simple touchscreen interface and voice guidance allow you to keep your eyes on the road. View larger.

Listen to an audio book or an MP3 while you’re on the road. View larger.

    Design
With a total weight of 5.1 ounces and slim measurements of 3.87 x 2.91 x 0.87 inches (WxHxD), the nüvi 350 is just right for the pocket or purse. A bright, 64,000-color display dominates the front of the device and a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels means that there’s plenty of room for displaying map data and other elements of the device’s interface. An SD memory card slot is provided for expansion software, such as a points of interest database, media files and electronic guides (see below). The flip-up antenna includes an MCX-type connector for connecting the unit to an external GPS antenna. Meanwhile, a powerful built-in speaker resides on the back of device. A built-in lithium ion battery will give you for to eight hours of battery life, depending on use. In addition to an AC charger, the unit also ships with a 12-volt power adapter for vehicle charging, as well as a windshield suction cup mount.

Fortunately, Garmin has made it easy to interface with the nüvi 350’s 700 megabytes of onboard memory, thanks to “plug-and-play” USB mass storage support. Just plug the device into your computer’s USB port and you’ve got instantaneous access to all the audio books, music, photos, supplemental maps and other data on the nüvi 350’s internal and SD card memory.

    Navigation
The nüvi 350 is first and foremost a personal GPS device. Wherever you go — in your car or on foot– the device offers extremely accurate position data, thanks to a high-sensitivity integrated GPS receiver by SiRF and WAAS-enabled, 12-satellite reception. Combined with detailed maps of the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico the nüvi 350 provides automatic routing, turn-by-turn voice directions, and touchscreen control– making it easy to find your way anywhere. Plus, the unique “text-to-speech” feature calls out turns by street name, and you can choose from either 2D or 3D mapping perspectives when you’re viewing your route on the display. Additionally, the nüvi 350 is compatible with Garmin’s GTM 10 FM TMC traffic receiver*, which allows users to avoid traffic tie-ups by simply pushing a button that will calculate a new route.

As mentioned, the nüvi 350 comes packed with mapping data for North America, but you can can also load up your custom points of interest. Set up proximity alerts for school zones, safety cameras, and more using Garmin’s free POI (points of interest) loader program (available from garmin.com).

Important note about map updates: Due to our high volume of sales, almost every Garmin portable GPS navigator sold by Amazon.com will come with the most recent map version. If you ever do need a map update, you can purchase one from Amazon.com at our Garmin Store.

The device automatically calculates the fastest route and provides voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions along the way.

    Tools for the Journey
Navigation is just part of the journey, and the nüvi 350 is one of the first devices to recognize that. The built-in “Travel Kit” offers an MP3 player, an audio book player from Audible.com, a jpeg-format picture viewer, a world travel clock with time zones, a currency converter, a measurement converter, and a calculator.

In addition to the included travel tools, additional software add-ons are available, such as the Garmin Language Guide, with data provided by Oxford University Press. This software suite contains a multilingual word bank, phrase bank, and five bilingual dictionaries. The multilingual word bank and phrase bank supports nine languages and dialects, including American English, British English, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, European Portuguese, European Spanish, and Latin American Spanish. Now you can look up and translate more than 17,000 words or 20,000 phrases per language — right in the palm of your hand. Through the unit’s text-to-speech interface, users can get a spoken pronunciation of each entry in the word bank, along with gender and part of speech information.

Another useful add-on software package, the Garmin Travel Guide, is loaded with information provided by Marco Polo. These guides put in-depth travel information such as reviews and recommendations for restaurants, tourist attractions, and more at your fingertips. The software allows you to navigate to an address or search points of interest– places like hotels, restaurants, shopping, and tourist attractions. The nüvi 350 automatically calculates the fastest route and provides voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions along the way. The unit also audibly announces the name of upcoming streets– letting you keep your eyes on the road while navigating through busy traffic and tricky roadways. And if you stray off course, the nüvi 350 automatically calculates the quickest way to get back on track.

*Traffic services available only in select cities where RDS-TMC coverage exists. Requires the GTM 10 FM TMC traffic receiver and subscription fee to enable traffic capability.

Customer Review: Just the thing for a driving vacation!
I’ve wanted a GPS for a long time, but the cost, plus having to purchase add on maps had always kept me from getting one. I decided to take a chance on a refurbished one for a vacation to Colorado we had planned. We recieved the GPS unit the day before heading out, so early the next morning, I was reading the manual while my wife drove. All advertised cables, chargers, etc. were in the box and all looked new. At our first stop, I attached the GPS mount to the windshield, connected the GPS, and turned it on. Everything worked great from the start. It showed the exact location, with a complete road map of the little town we were in. Throughout our vacation, we couldn’t find a road that wasn’t in the GPS, even some dirt roads in State parks. I was able to key in the locations we were wanting to visit in the evening, then the next day, the Nuvi 350 took us there. One of the things I like best about it was it told which lane to be in for offramps and turns on multi-lane roads; very nice on busy highways and in cities. Another thing I liked was having so many waypoints. When we needed gas, food, or anything, the Nuvi would bring up a list of options, then guide us to the one we picked. The voice was clear and easy to understand. The screen was easy to navigate. All maps needed for USA were already loaded. Worked first time and every time. I’d definately recommend this unit for first time GPS buyers.
Customer Review: hate it more than anything I own
There are so many things bad about this unit but here are a few: -it doesn’t give enough warning for turns, maybe 300 feet and I can’t look at it in heavy traffic to determine which lane I need to be in, makes me crazy -It won’t give direction for which way to turn out of a parking lot. Please, this is a basic need. -It can’t find a satellite for many, many minutes even in populated areas, not out in the woods. -We have paid for updated maps and they are STILL outdated. It has directed us to non-existent freeway exits, non-existent roads in the Smoky Mountains and Charlotte County FL. -It cannot recognize that we have exited the freeway (on it’s instruction) and tell us which way to go next. I don’t know why it isn’t broken in a thousand pieces due to it’s outrageous stupidity. And I can’t believe how many people are happy with this crappy unit. Now I can’t trust any other reviews I read in trying to find a more reliable GPA system. Hell.

Assorted Colors Neoprene Sleeve Carrying Case for TomTom ONE XL and TomTom 330 , BLUE

Young MicroBranded Non-OEM Case. 1 Year Unconditional Warranty if purchased through PCMicroStore
Customer Review: Just what I wanted. Side pocket will hold an Ipod
After having my GPS stolen, I decided to carry the next one with me. I already typically carry a bag with me and didn’t want a whole separate one for the GPS, This was inexpensive, pads the unit well and fits inside my bag easily. As a bonus my Ipod Classic fits into the side pocket so now I carry both when I leave (my last Ipod was stolen along with the GPS as well). I am using it with a TomTom 930.
    Customer Review: Prefect
The carrying case is prefect and it doesn’t look like it has the TomTom in it. That is the most important thing to me. So people don’t think I have something on me that they want to steal. It is also very cute and trendy.

Customer Review: Best USB GPS reciever I’ve used.
I previously purchased a cheap (about $10) GPS receiver from another site, what a mistake. Took 5+ minutes to get a fix, and it would loose the fix going under overpasses on the freeway. Thought I’d actually do some research and find a decent receiver this time. Bought the GlobalSat BU-353, and it’s been great! Usually gets a fix from a cold start in less then a minute, and have even had it get a fix while the car’s still in the garage! I’ve only had it loose a fix one time, but it was because I was going through a tunnel, even still, the receiver picked up the fix up on the other side in just a few seconds. The only issue I’ve ever had with it is that the base is a bit too slippery (since I try to keep it on the dash) and under hard cornering or acceleration, it’ll slide down the dashboard. The magnet on the base is really strong though, and if you were putting it on the roof, I don’t think it’d have a problem holding on.
Customer Review: Fast locking in on Location, Very nice
This is the fastest lock GPS device I have used, and I have used about a dozen. One thing though-I was having trouble with it crashing my Vista laptop after a couple hours of use. I Solved this by going to Control Panel->Hardware and Sound->Device Manager->Under Ports->Select Properties of Prolific USB-to-Serial…->Port Settings->Change Flow Control to Hardware then->Select Advanced->Change both buffers to 1. And that totally solved the blue screen issue I was having. Great product, best available USB GPS.
