Customer Review: Not for use with Tom Tom 930
I got this because Amazon recommended it. However, you can’t use this mat with a Tom Tom 930 mount. The problem is the Tom Tom 930 mount is too short, and this requires the Tom Tom screen to be aimed upward at about a 45 degree angle in order to be in this mat. I’m sure this mat would work well if your mount for your GPS allows the GPS to be high enough to look over the lip. But I would be careful of Tom Toms.

I purchased this Clear Touch Glare Screen Protector as I was sometimes unable to read the screen of my Tom Tom XL1.S in the bright Californian Sun. The screen is easy to apply and makes viewing better but not perfect. For the small investment involved it is woth the improvement.

It came packaged with a little card-like applicator. The applicator is supposed to help smooth out trapped air between the adhesive and the screen. It seemed that although I used the applicator, there were always trapped air bubbles. The corners also donn’t adhere as well as I thought. It does help eliminate glare, and having it on there is better than nothing all.

Customer Review: Not bad but not perfect
Worked very well most of the time with a few quirks (would occasionally reboot itself). On long trips would sometimes pick a much longer route than what made optimal sense, so best to double-check with a paper map. Lasted about 15 months and then the plastic power receptacle cracked, making it unusable. I would buy a refurbished one (<$100) the next time.

The product was in good shape; you couldn’t even tell it had been refurbished. The problem I have is that I took a trip the day after I received it and the Magellan hasn’t been a bit of help because it needs an upgrade. I paid over $80 for it and I already have to buy a $50 upgrade?

This fishfinder works well and is easy to read, even in bright sunlight. It gives reliable information at all boat speeds. The price I got the unit for was 20% cheaper than any of the local outlets. The only drawback is during installation. Due to the size of the electrical connector, to attach the transducer cord to the back of the fishfinder, it makes it fairly difficult to thread through the hull of the boat, but once in, the unit works fine.

Customer Review: Be Careful Which Version You Get
I ordered this along with my Garmin nuvi 765t and it never worked. Thankfully, Amazon did it’s usual superb job of replacing it with just a few mouse clicks. When the replacement arrived it was of a much simpler design and worked just fine. Detail: The original version I got had a slot in the back of the plug-in unit into which various plugs could be inserted to adapt it for the appropriate country/voltage/etc. My guess is that the connection between the adapter and the unit were not good and so it just didn’t work. The replacement unit which I received was made with the North American prongs already built in and no adapter was necessary for use here. The unit was packaged with adapters for UK and European use if needed. The just plug onto the NA prongs. If you order this, see if you can determine which type will be sent to you or if you get the older-style version try to exchange it.

Customer Review: Nice body but slightly retarded GPS
I like the physical feature of it. It is compact, and I also like the mounting device where removing and putting in are very easy. Unlike the other GPS by another manufacture, the body doesn’t get hot as I use it for hours. However, I have problems with navigation. Since I haven’t tried Tomtom’s other products, I want to clarify that I am not writing about Tomtom’s products in general. It’s just this model 140 (not 140-S). When the vehicle is going very slow, the positioning gets quite off. It’s like the unit is really drunk or something. And in some locations, even outdoor, the unit gives incorrect positions. It can be as off as 700 feet or so! This GPS is a positioning system with a poor sense of direction. On freeways or highways, the unite gave me a very good directing, even better than other more costly units by other company’s. Since driving around in residential areas with this unit got me lost, I cannot recommend this to anyone. I give you an example of how bad it can get with this. As a test, I set a destination for only 10 blocks from where I was. I can physically get there very easily without violating traffic rules. But this GPS gave me a route that goes farther and goes around the town, totaling 1.5 miles of driving. When I put back to the factory setting and try the same thing, each time I reset the device the route is different. In order to go just 10 yards, this GPS makes me drive a few miles. What a waste of time, gas, and life! I ordered another GPS by a different manufacture with very good reputations, and as soon as I receive the new one I will be returning this GPS. Perhaps if you buy a TomTom product with good reviews, you may not have much of problems. Just don’t get this one! Get something else.
